Charlize Theron
Cristobal Balenciaga founded one of the most renowned, successful fashion houses in the world. Born in Spain and apprenticed to a tailor by the time he was thirteen, he found success very early in his career. This was after fitting the Queen Mother, Empress Eugenie, and other aristocratic Spanish ladies. Balenciaga presented his first collection in 1937. Always a step ahead in fashion, he is most well known for introducing hemlines that bared the leg to the knee. He trained and mentored some of today’s most renowned couture designers, from Givenchy to Ungaro. Even now, almost forty years after his death, he is referred to as The Master. His original collections included only custom apparel. By 1997, the signature scent, introduced in 1946, was joined by a collection of accessories and ready-to-wear clothing. Accessories include handbags, belts, sunglasses and eyewear.
As befits its long and distinguished history, some of today’s most famous personalities wear Balenciaga sunglasses and fashions. Kourtney Kardashian was been seen sporting the Balenciaga oversized gray sunglasses. The frames are gray acetate, in a modified round shape with the gold colored logo on the arms. The lenses are graduated from dark gray to clear. Charlize Theron and Kate Beckinsale each have a pair of the vintage styled Balenciaga sunglasses. Reminiscent of the 1960’s styles, these light acetate eyewear frames have a large butterfly shape. Available in grey, violet pink and blue green, they provide 100% ultraviolet protection.
Rihanna showed her retro-urban style when she hit the town wearing her Balenciaga eyewear. Inspired by the original Wayfarer, these teacup-shaped tinted lenses, suitable for both men and women, are set into thin metal frames. The Balenciaga sunglasses worn by Salma Hayek are ultramodern, with their rectangular, slightly wrapped style. They are available in black with gray lenses, or burgundy frames and lenses. If you have seen the commercial with Mary J Blige rocking and morphing from one look to another, you have seen the hippest Balenciaga sunglasses. Ms Blige favors the black frame with grey gradient lenses. If that is not your style, consider the Tortoise look. Halle Barry was seen wearing hers Balenciaga while spending time with her daughter. The Havana brown frame and brown gray lenses are oversized for the ultimate in UV protection. Also available are the Bone and Violet Frames, which both have brown gradient lenses.
