How to add color tints?
Dyes and pigments are substances that give color to a material. The term is often used to dye the two dyes (Also called contrast) and pigments. The major difference between dyes and pigments is the solubility (the tendency to dissolve in a liquid especially water). The dyes are generally soluble or can be made to be soluble in water. Once a dye is dissolved in water, the material to be dyed can be immersed in the dye. Since that the material absorbs the ink and dry, color develops. If the material is preserved while the color after being washed, the dye is said skin. Pigments are usually not is soluble in water, oil or other solvents. To apply a material, which is the first ground into a fine powder and mixed with a little liquid, called the dispersion agent or the vehicle. The mixture of pigment dispersing agent is then spread on the material to be colored. As drying agent was dispersed, the pigment is carried held in place in the material. In most cases, the dyes used for coloring textiles, paper, and other substances, while pigments are used for coloring paints, inks, cosmetics and plastics.
Many dyes can be obtained from natural sources like plants, animals and minerals. In fact, humans have known and natural dyes used since the dawn of civilization. red iron oxide, for example, has been used to color fabric and ceramics and body decoration human. Today T-dyed with red clay of natural origin (iron oxide) are popular among tourists in many places and times. red earth gives clothes color red-orange is almost impossible to wash. Other natural dyes include sepia, obtained from sepia and Indian yellow, obtained from the urine of cows that were fed mango leaves power.
Some natural dyes are expensive to produce and difficult to obtain or difficult to use. Royal Purple is named because it is only in the tropics murex snail. The snails were then required to produce the least amount of dye that could afford the royalty luxury of using. The dye known as indigo, Indigofera obtained from the factory, gives a beautiful blue color to the material, but is insoluble in water. First, it must become in another chemical form (reduced) that is yellow and is soluble in water. Thus, the indigo can be used for dyeing. Once connected to a material and is exposed to air, the yellow form of indigo is converted back (oxidized) to form its original blue.
A revolution in history occurred in 1856 when Dye chemist William Henry Perkin (1838-1907) discovered a way to make a contrast in the laboratory. This dye, mauve, is produced from materials found in the common coal tar. Perkin discovery showed that the chemical dyes and pigments can be produced by synthesis (by humans in a laboratory). No was necessary to search for natural products for use as dyes. Today, the majority most of the dyes and pigments are produced synthetically. These products are easier and cheaper to produce than natural products. Moreover, their colors are more consistent from batch to batch several samples of natural dyes.
Dyes can be applied to materials in a variety of ways. The simplest approach is to dissolve the dye in the water and then immerse the material in solution dye. A person who accidentally discovers a piece of red wine spilled on clothing dipped in reality, but probably not as expected. Any dye that binds the material in this way is called a particular dye. The dye adheres to the matter by forming chemical bonds that survive even after washing. If they join dye directly to a material or not depends on the chemical nature of the ink and dye material. Some compounds for dyeing silk, not wool, cotton or polyester but no. Any process of dyeing, therefore, is to find materials for a given set of color compound. Mordant dyeing involves the use of a chemical combined with the dye to form an insoluble compound (which means it can not be dissolved). Suppose B dye will not stick directly onto the fabric A. For fabric colored with a dye B, the third bite material (M) will be presented. M adhere (stick) A and B. In the process of biting, stinging is first applied to the fabric. After the bite is dry, the dye is added. The dye adheres to the teeth and the tissue is able to take the color of the dye, forming an unbreakable bond.
The pigments are applied as a blend surface is always at least two parties (the pigment itself and the vehicle) and usually many more components. For example, as a dilution due to turpentine is often added to a given mixture to make it easier to apply. One of the simplest paintings can imagine, then, could consist of red iron oxide, linseed oil (vehicle), and turpentine (the thinnest). The purpose of the vehicle in this mixture is to transport pigment on the surface, like motor vehicles transporting people and goods. A film is often necessary because many vehicles are thick, viscous (Sticky) materials that are difficult to apply with a brush. After the pigment mixture of diluent or vehicle was applied to a surface, two changes. First Instead, the solvent evaporates leaving the vehicle mixture of pigments / distributed evenly over the surface. Then, the vehicle is in a slow chemical change (Oxidation) which becomes a thick liquid to a solid. Since the pigment particles are trapped in the vehicle hard, like a second skin color resistant material is attached to the surface.
Almost all dyes used in industry one way or another. About 7,000 different dyes and pigments and other existing new are patented each year. The dyes are widely used in the textile industry (fabrics used in clothing) and the paper industry. Leather and wood are stained with dyes. Food is often treated with natural dyes or synthetic dyes that have been approved by a federal agency (proven safe for human consumption). based products oil such as waxes, lubricating oils, waxes, oil and colored with dyes. The dyes are also used to stain biological samples, the skin and hair. And special dyes are added to photographic emulsions for color photos. Plastics, resins, rubber products and are usually colored pigments.
